I had the honor to work on the branding of WAISS, the first West African Institute for Special Surgery.
I also branded FFSS, the foundation that made this project possible.
Our voice will be amplified by the philosophy that less is more. We will present as a wordmark only, making a statement of confidence through simplicity.
We take inspiration from revered museums and top architectural firms of the world: busting at the seams with creativity inside, but standing timeless, with just enough modification to be ownable.
We’ve designed ligatures, which not only reduce the lateral footprint, but symbolize efficiency and Wasting No Potential. The letters pairings also reflect our spirit of community and teamwork. “A-ha” moments are created as you slowly recognize the joins. There’s just enough “uncommon” to be both creative and functional.

Service isn't just work; it's a trade where we find inspiration, love, and wisdom. As Doctor Kofi once shared with me, a profound truth for those drawn to helping: the biggest challenge is often accepting help ourselves. We may take pride in aiding others, but letting go and allowing someone else the joy of giving can be equally important. This resonated deeply.
Our mission is to deliver the highest level of sub-specialized surgical care to patients in Africa. Our vision goes beyond immediate treatment. We aim to eradicate the burden of surgical diseases on the continent through compassionate care, research, and the transfer of sub-specialized expertise. http://foundationforspecialsurgery.org/hospital-project/
